
Taylor maintained he wanted to leave St James' Park after a breakdown in contract talks, but failed to secure a transfer and is currently on the sidelines with a shoulder injury that is expected to keep him out for at least five more weeks.
Hughton is keen to have the defender involved again, although knows that he will not be available for selection until at least mid-October, telling the Chronicle: "As far as Steven is concerned, we are still looking at about five weeks or so.
"We'll continue to assess his situation like we would with any injury. He still has a part to play for Newcastle."
Newcastle could soon be boosted by the return of midfielder Danny Guthrie, who has not played this season after sustaining a knee injury, although he is still a fortnight away.
Hughton said: "It will still be two weeks for Danny. However, this is certainly not a long-term problem. We expect him back in the frame quite soon."
